Life in the slow lane...

Come to Poppa!
Yesterday afternoon, I landed
in Lewistown 2:00 p.m. MST.
I literally broke down into sobs. You see, this is where my heart truly is. And oddly, every inch of my being seems to connected to this place. This is HOME.
Spring is here.
It was a glorious spring day in the low 70s. Lewistown is definitely far behind Manhattan. The daffodils are just blooming. Budding trees haven't popped. And the green prairie grass shoots are slowly rising above the brown remnants of last year.
Home cookin'
Our first stop was The Empire Cafe for a quick sandwich. As we walked in, our waitress informed us that the grill was down for maintenance. Therefore we our options were limited to sandwiches and "anything deep fried". Fortunately the special scrawled onto the board was a Tuna Salad Sandwich with Clam Chowder for $7.00. How could anybody resist such a delightful repast on a Friday afternoon?
I gobbled it down. Glad to be back where everyday fare is a simple as life is.
Signs of spring.
Our next stop was the bank. After I finished my business, I asked my teller about her weekend plans. "Branding" she said with a wry smile. "Got 863 calves and over 400 heifers to brand. Tired just thinking about it." Life here is always a dichotomy. After a week of counting cash it seems totally normal to spend your leisure time searing wiggling live cowhide!
Spring forward...
We finally then made our way over to the Money Pit. As we turned the corner, we could see that the new windows have transformed the house. Adding back subtle details long lost!
Only in Lewistown would your contractor greet you with a BIG HUG! We walked the house with Bill and Mike and their progress is amazing. We are so blessed to have them in our lives. More to come...
Hola Lewistown!
We ended our day dining out with Frank's folks. The joint was packed with locals, and quickly we realized that our house is the talk of town! Maybe it was the Margaritas but I was so happy!
