PP Update: Come on in!

PASSION PIT UPDATE #1

It seems like eons but actually it's been only eighteen months
since we started the restoration of The Passion Pit.
I can't tell you how much we've appreciated
your encouragement and kind words throughout.
For the next three days we'll update five rooms on the first floor.
In advance I apologize for my photography.
Hopefully the transformation still shines through!
Enjoy your tour!

When you finally visit our new/old home,
you'll arrive via the front door.

Now
As you can see above,
our exterior is currently a work in progress...

Then
As the picture below shows,
less is more.

THE VESTIBULE

Upon entering
you're in the vestibule.
This petite salon is the perfect transition
between our cold Montanan winters
and our cozy interior!
It's rather tight but here we go...

Now
I don't have a "before" picture
for the vestibule.
Shown above is how it looks today.

Then
As the photo below indicates,
it's bench wasn't very inviting in
January of 2013.

Now
As shown below,
it's cleaned up
and waiting for it's
new custom upholstered cushion!

Then
Every door in the house is inlaid mahogany.
Beneath the dings, dirt, and destruction
they were among the greatest assets
our home had to offer.

Now
The restored coat closet door
in all it's glory is shown below.
The front door
is still waiting to be refinished.

THE FRONT HALL

Then
The large paned French door
was designed to shed light
from the vestibule into the Front Hall.
Sadly said illumination
only highlighted
the challenges that lay waiting within.

Now
Fully restored and like new,
the sun can finally shine in!

Then
 When we first walked in
and saw this staircase, we fell in love.
However...
after a tour of the house,
I said to Frank
"NEVER IN A MILLION YEARS!"

Now
Before you knew it,
we owned it!
Eighteen months later,
it's the showcase of the house.
Except now there's no danger
of it collapsing!

Then
There was little motivation to climb those steps.
The Tiffany window
had been removed years before
It's empty scar
ill-sized for the landing.

Now
New windows fit the space better.
Our beautiful alabaster and silver fixture
from "T" tops it all off!

TOMORROW
we'll go into the Living Room.
Who knows what we'll see?
Stay tuned...
