Cold war
Let's face it friends, it's cold out there. Much
of the United States has been experiencing
colder than normal temperatures. However
one shouldn't assume our President is right
in his theory that global warming is a farce.
Unfortunately climatic challenges are not the
only battles to be fought in our political cold
war. Within our American experience the
political gap only grows deeper. And when
confronted with such a schism some prefer
to run or hide from reality. However at times
horrific events suddenly force us to finally face
the facts. Even when some of us don't want to.
School daze
Wednesday's mass shooting in Parkland, Florida
brings the 2018 school shootings total to eight.
Averaging 1.3 school shootings per week over
the last forty five days. Since Sandy Hook more
than four hundred children and adults have been
killed in our schools. The majority murdered by
automatic assault rifle fire. Add mass shootings
such as the one that occurred on the Vegas strip
and one can only but wonder why NOTHING
has been done to end this mania. The sad fact
is that no child or educator is safe in their school
as long as we continue to allow guns to be put
into the hands of known and confirmed lunatics.
Automatic rejection
This argument isn't about hunting. Nor is about
owning a gun at home in order to protect your
turf and family. This is about allowing crazy,
sick persons to be literally given a license to
kill. Allowing easy access to high-performance
killing machines. Our firearms system is broken.
Which means that the acts of an unbalanced few
prove that gun control is something we have to
face, address, and embrace. The fact is that no
perpetrator has walked into a school wielding
the typical weapons that most sportsmen own.
Nor the type of firearm that an average citizen
carries in their own self-defense. NADA.
Hidden agendas
Instead, this crisis is all about an industry that
refuses to bear any responsibility for the results
of their lobbying efforts. In truth most Second
Amendment advocacy is tainted by those who
are unwilling to limit their profits, revenue, and
corporate growth. Said people fund the National
Rifle Association. Not average Americans who
simply want to protect their rights to bear arms.
Somehow we've allowed greed and avarice to
cloud our judgment. And sadly it seems, have
enabled corruptive corporate lobbyists to guide
our political process in their favor. And in the
process facilitate mass killings of our children.
Just say NO
Growing up as a baby boomer, there was no
place safer than school. It was a haven. A
refuge. A reassuring structured enclave of
learning, growth, and empowerment. Now
forces that seem beyond but yet actually are
fully within our control have turned them
into killing fields. Under circumstances such
as these - we cannot accept the status quo.
Instead we must demand that gun control
laws be changed immediately to protect the
innocent. It's time to pull the trigger. To zero
in on those who prefer to empower insanity
as they profit from death. They must STOP.
