Not all it's cracked up to be
It seems that everyone is walking on eggshells.
Unsure about what is going to happen next. As
fall looms on the horizon we have much more
to fear than raking leaves. Rather most of us are
concerned about the future. Personally we worry
about whether we or someone we love will die
some horrible death due to Covid 19. Or if our
homes will be consumed by wildfires or smote
by hurricanes. Collectively some fret socialists
will take over this country. As others plot their
escape should Trump win four more years. We
can't rely on anybody or anything. Simply stuck
between here and there or God knows what.
Damned if you do or don't
How it ever get this bad? Did we do something
really bad to end up in this mess. Somebody is
responsible. But who is to blame? My dearly
departed Mother would attribute all blame to
"the end times." Assuming that any day all of
the good folks would disappear up to paradise.
Leaving the rest of us to battle satan and try to
survive against all odds. Left alone to our own
devices - we can't control anything. Therefore
we've nobody to blame but ourselves. Like it
or not - the only thing that's guaranteed is that
we are SCREWED. That is if we are somehow
lucky enough to survive. Against all odds.
It ain't over till it's over
Inevitably this purgatorial period of suspended
animation will end. Some will win. Others lose.
Whether said outcome is good or bad, at least
half of us won't appreciate it. Leaving a sizable
group disenfranchised at best. The question is
where will we go from there? Will life return
to some semblance of normalcy? One where a
President doesn't tweet our democracy away?
Is it possible that someday we'll be able to let
it all hang out without risking infection? Will
we let bygones be bygones and start anew? Or
allow bitterness and anger to taint our future.
No wonder I'm worried... how about you?!
